Kristin Bloom is a cinematographer based in Missoula, Montana. Her artistic journey began in the American Southeast, drifting between film sets in Nashville and Atlanta, where she developed an early fascination with how light, composition, and restraint shape story. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Video and Film Production from Middle Tennessee State University and later completed her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Montana.
Relocating west marked a turning point in her creative work. Immersed in Montana’s physical and psychological landscapes, Kristin’s cinematography evolved toward deeper examinations of tension, perception, and character, with a focus on visual clarity, mood, and expressive, deliberate camera work. Her cinematography spans narrative and independent productions, grounded in a steady, story-first approach.
Kristin is the co-founder of The Nightmare Box LLC, an independent production company focused on dark, atmospheric filmmaking. Her work is marked by care, intention, and an enduring devotion to the art of cinema, often examining vulnerability, obsession, and the spaces where fear and empathy intersect. Rooted in collaboration, her films invite audiences to look more deeply at their own lives as well as the lives unfolding around them.
